Boys’ Brigade is a Christian Youth Organisation. We aim to enable boys to develop fulfilling lives based on Christian principles through activities, challenges, fun and friendship. We are a part of Hanham Methodist Church, the Avon Battalion and the West of England and Channel Islands District.

All Officers and helpers are fully trained but unpaid volunteers. All Officers and helpers have undergone DBS checks. The Captain is the Officer in charge of the Company and we have an Officer in Charge of each section.
Boys who join the company will be expected to play a full part in the activities of the Company including attendance at Parade Services.
COSTS
Boys pay a subscription fee three times per year (September, January, and April). Please ask for the current rate. We may ask for contributions towards the cost of outside visits or special activities although we try to subsidise costs through fundraising. The cost of uniform items is available on request.
UNIFORM
For Anchors and Juniors the Uniform consists of a BB Polo Shirt and Sweatshirt. In Company Section a more formal shirt and tie is worn but the polo shirt can be worn as an optional extra. Achievement badges are given free of charge.
CONSENT
All BB members and visitors must supply a consent form signed by their parents. This is completed annually. Separate consent is sought for special activities such as camps or sleepovers.
PARADES AND SERVICES
Parade Services are held at Hanham Methodist Church on around seven special Sundays throughout the year and all boys are expected to attend, in uniform. Parents are encouraged to stay for the Service which lasts about an hour, and to share in a cup of coffee afterwards. Following the Service boys return to the Anchor Boys room which they are dismissed.
We have an annual enrolment service in October at which boys make promises and receive membership cards. At this very important service we also issue promotions and awards.
Each year Junior and Company Section attend Battalion Parades in October for Founders Day and in April. These are important Battalion events which take place at various locations in the area.
An annual Carol Service is held for Anchor Boys.
CAMPS
Annual Battalion Camp is held in the Summer for Company and Senior Boys. Junior Section holiday is held every other year. Details will be provided at the time.

We are always on the look out for willing people to help even if it’s only for a short period of time, it may be that you could come along once a month, but it all helps. Our Company is growing and to continue to provide a good and balanced programme we need plenty of helpers.
Please contact the Captain if you think you can help.
